Ukrainian Folk Dancers
Hello, welcome to American Dissident Voices, I'm your host, Shaun Walker.
First, I forgot to announce that the Free Speech newspaper, February 2006 issue is out, with an exclusive interview with Udo Voigt, President of the NPD, in Germany. This is only $4 postpaid from National Vanguard Books.
I recently read an article dealing with the Ukraine and the political differences there. I would like to discuss the issues in that nation.
In the Ukraine, there is a big split in that nation between the East and West. An article I read simplified the situation to portray the eastern portion as more pro-Russian and the western part is more pro-West, which is also called pro-European Union. This really does leave many factors out. For those in the Western half, there are many different trains of thought. Many in the West are just Ukrainian nationalists and fear that Russia might absorb the Ukraine again and make them second-class citizens. They are not interested in being absorbed by the European Union (EU), either. However, there are portions of the western population that would like to join the EU. Some of these people are pro-Zionist lapdogs while others are pan-Europeans and feel that all of Europe will eventually be one nation. The major Jewish criminals have put all their support into the pro-Western side of the Ukrainian political spectrum, because that can benefit the Jews. The European Union is easier for the Jewish criminals to operate in, than say, in Putin's Russia. When Boris Yeltsin was President of Russia, the Jews wanted the Ukraine to be under the sphere of Russian influence. This was because Yeltsin was married to a Jewess and their daughter was even raised with Jewish religious influence. Putin is less Jew-friendly, so the Ukraine found itself undergoing the now infamous "Orange Revolution."
In the pro-Eastern side of the split, there are groups that are pro-Russian and hope to rejoin Russia one day. There are pro-White people who saw the Jews working for the Orange side. There are pan-Slavic people who want a "Greater Russia" nation or even a "Greater Slavic" nation. There are some that even want the Balkans and Greece all united into a "Greater Eastern Europe" nation. With the very religious Eastern Orthodox people, they see this as a "Greater Eastern Orthodox" nation. This is actually an idea that has floated around the Slavic world for about 600 years and Moscow has many times been called the "Third Rome."
Others are strongly against being taken over by the American-Zionist power structure. Then there are others who want to prevent the European Union-Zionist power structure from taking control of the Ukraine. And there are even die-hard Communists from the Stalinist-type to the Brezhnev-type, who want to restore the Soviet Union. There are many different types of ideas that motivate people in the present day Ukraine, and they have been forced, by the reality of political expedience, into one camp or the other. Politics consists of very dynamic, ruthless political equations, all of which never exist in a pure or isolated form. All ideologies are affected by other, competing ideologies, so goals are often co-opted and strange partnerships are commonplace. But, with all this discord in the Ukraine, there is one region that isn't getting too much media attention at all.
This article I read did have one quote from a lady from the Eastern part of the Ukraine who said, "Those people in the northwest of the Ukraine are genetically unable to be a part of the Ukraine." I had to laugh about this. I have heard about those "different" people in that area, which is also called Galicia, since I was born. Before I move on, let me clarify that there are two regions of Europe that just coincidently have the same name of "Galicia." There is the Galician region in the northwest of Spain, and a Galicia region, which stretches from Poland, Belarus and the Ukraine. My grandparents come from this last region. Many White Nationalists have heard about the Ukrainian Holocaust, where seven million Ukrainians were starved to death in the 1930s. The area that was hit the worst was the most rebellious, anti-Communist region, which is the northwest portion of the Ukraine. That region is one of the most rural and the poorest of all in the Ukraine. To this day they have the least political clout and there is a national prejudice against them. This national prejudice is the topic of today's show in a roundabout sort of way. Those Galicians, my relatives, are labeled as "genetically unable to be a part of the Ukraine" for the same reason American stores once had signs that read, "Help Wanted: No Irish Need Apply." The topic today is therefore about small group identity, and I need to remind the listener to keep in mind two factors, small group identity and the larger group dominance, because we cannot understand one without the other.
To begin with, the Ukraine was a variety of different White tribes who lived there over the ages. The northwest region had Thracians in Greek times and the Romans called them Scythians. Scythians is really just a group name, much like Scandinavian, not specific to any tribe or nation. But, the last time this area was settled by any group was over a 300-year period from about 800 to 1100, by the Scandinavians, mostly from Sweden. They became powerful and important to the Eastern Vikings, which is a very interesting topic to your average Russian, but most Americans have never heard about them. History buffs have heard about the Varangian Guard, who were basically Scandinavian mercenaries who came from the northwest of the Ukraine. The Varangian Guard did take recruits from many different groups, but the leadership was made up from pagans of the Asatru faith from that region of the Ukraine. They were employed by the rulers of the Eastern Roman Empire, later called the Byzantine Empire. But, aside from the Varangian Guard, the historical details of this group of people from the northwest of the Ukraine, has been lost over time.
When the Asiatic Tatars destroyed Kiev, Poland invaded and took over this portion of the Russian confederacy. Since then, these Ukrainians have been annoying everyone they could. Adolf Hitler saw them as natural allies, because they were Nordic, anti-Communist and the biggest Jew-haters in Eastern Europe. The largest ethnic group that joined the SS after the Germans were the Ukrainians and almost all of them came from the northwest section: 100,000 served in the Waffen-SS. Even after World War Two ended, these disruptive Ukrainians wouldn't put down their guns. Most people think of 1945 as the year the war ended. But, it wasn't until 1953 that the last of these Ukrainians stopped fighting. The American OSI, later called the CIA, was actually supplying these people with weapons and intelligence.
To this day, Ukrainians, just like every nation, regard certain people as different and these differences create stereotypes. Stereotypes only exist because of an underlying grain of truth to them. In the southern part of the Ukraine, centered in the city of Odessa, is where the vast majority of the Jews in the Ukraine live. Jews only make up one percent of the Ukraine's population, but they compromise the vast majority of the organized criminals. Because of this, the southern part of the Ukraine around Odessa is called "The Rotten Ukraine." The Jews and their greed are known throughout the Ukraine. But, the negative stereotype of the greedy Jew in Odessa is never confused with the negative rebellious stereotype with the Ukrainians of the northwest. Each stereotype is real, but different. This is the same the world over. You will never hear a White racist in America say how the Asians control the US media. No one accuses the Eskimos of raping White women. Each group is genetically different and their behavior and subsequent stereotypes are linked accordingly.
This is something most White Nationalists understand already, but let's look at our own race. Do group stereotypes within the White race have any value? Why are there different groups? Why hasn't everyone assimilated after so many thousands of years of contact?
In America, the anti-Irish sentiment has really diminished. This is partly to do with the fact that the Irish marry non-Irish a lot these days. The German-Irish combination is so common that jokes exist about German-Irish people. My favorite one is: "So, does that mean you like to get drunk and try to conquer the world?" Another reason that the Irish stereotype is diminishing is the racial conflict is growing so quickly that White people (Irish and non-Irish) are forced to side together. Today there exists a huge taboo against "White Pride" and yet at this very moment in time, "Keltic Pride" is not just OK to say publicly, but there really is a growing wave of Keltic interest and identity all over the world. You can say "Kiss me I'm Irish" anywhere, but try to say "Kiss me, I'm White" and you'll see a different response.
Americans still feel strong stereotypes against some Irish-Americans, but not by that name. The two poorest regions of America are both White areas. The larger of these two regions is geographically huge and isolated. The one in the West starts at on the west side of the mighty Missouri river and goes through most of the Rocky Mountains. There are many rural counties that have less than 1,000 people with an annual income of $14,000 per household. But, there is no negative stereotype against them. Most people outside of this huge region know little about it.
The other region in America that is poor is in the Appalachian Mountains, and this area carries a huge variety of negative stereotypes. The Irish and Scots mostly settled this area. Where I live here in West Virginia, the heritage of the population is very Irish. My local phone book reads like a phone book out of Dublin. And the one thing that most people love about this region of the world is the music, just like in Ireland. Bluegrass music is really nothing other than Keltic music made by Keltic people in North America. The link is a very strong one.
These people here in America, the Appalachians, have a negative stereotype and are called Hillbillies. Personally, I like them as a group, because they are much more racially conscious than most of America and have a strong tradition of outdoorsmanship. But there are many stereotypes that go along with Hillbillies and, the longer I'm here, the more truth to them I see. The American government actually tried to "fix" the poverty problem with Appalachia and it backfired, just like every other social program launched by the US government. For example, West Virginia peaked at about 2.2 million people in 1950. The US government set up 101 social programs to "help" end poverty, but instead all it did was create a huge vacuum and the population left in huge numbers. Even with a higher than average birthrate back then, the state now stands at 1.2 million people. The population is now older than the national average, the "brain-drain" is bigger than ever and no one is really sure if the state is still shrinking or finally growing again. But, the US government justified spending billions of dollars to "integrate" the Appalachian population, who were culturally "different" into mainstream America. Yet these federal programs have only hurt Appalachia.
Let's look at two regions in Europe with White minorities that share a common genetic link. First we have the Scottish Highlands to include all the Scottish Islands in the west. These people are Kelts, but they are a unique type of Kelt because they share some genetic markers with only one other group on the planet, who are the Basques. The Basques are people that have held out in the Pyrenees Mountains for thousands of years. Culturally the Kelts in the Scottish Highlands are pure Kelts, but their isolated region was somewhat of a holdout of an ancient people. Both of these groups feel identity towards their own small group, not towards the political nation that rules over them. They feel their own group identity and keep their ways alive in the wake of thousands of years of outside pressure against them.
Before I move on there is a quick point I want to cover. White people today, what we are, came from the last great migration to sweep across and conquer Europe, from the East, moving westward. This group of White people are what we are, called "Indo-Aryan." After World War Two, the name Aryan was demonized, so this is now just usually called "Indo-European." But, these people, who we are, had a common origin that started about 40,000 years ago. Once they reached Europe, they annihilated and absorbed other groups who were White, but slightly different. The only real group of those ancient people that remain are the Basque people. The Scottish Highlanders are blood descendents of that older stock, yet they are a mixture with the Aryans and the Basque-like people of the older stock. Yet, with each group, they just don't fit in with the others. Just like Americans making jokes about Hillbillies in Appalachia, there are plenty of jokes about Scottish Highlanders.
Only recently has it become popular to admit one is Highland Scot. A few movies in Hollywood, such as Highlander and Braveheart, have made the Highlanders into popular people today. But, 50 years ago and for many, many hundreds of years, Highland Scots were regarded as uncouth, drunks and thieves throughout Europe. Even in America, people that were of lowland Scot heritage made the point to calling themselves lowland Scots, so they wouldn't be disliked. But, regardless of past animosity or current popularity, the Highlanders derive strength from their identity.
In many nations there are small pockets of people, here and there, that are not a part of the national identity. And in each case there usually is a stronger sense of identity than with the national norm. There are Germans in northern Italy in an area called "South Tyrol." There is the entire native population of the island of Corsica, which is part of France, but culturally Italian. In both of those cases, these situations came about from land acquisitions following wars. There are other cases, with political unions that never removed the former independent identity. Take for example the German province of Bavaria.
Bavaria has been an independent nation many times. Bavarian people are Germans, but they also have the highest amount of Keltic blood in all of Germany, because of when they mixed with the native Kelts who lived there first, long ago. Bavarians are the most independent of all Germans. Bavarians are known to be a bit wary of outsiders. Even in Bavaria, in the rural areas, many towns have rivalries with neighboring towns. This is known throughout Germany and there are many stereotypes associated with Bavarians. It is therefore no coincidence that the only regional party in all of Germany that has real power in that country, on the national level, comes from Bavaria.
This is all just a natural part of us, where our instincts push us into being with our own kind. The definition of "what is our kind?" is highly complex, and this is a good thing. The White race forms a mosaic of different societies. Many of these are separate nation-states, such as Denmark or Portugal. Some are isolated places like the Faeroe Islands, which is the last society that speaks Old Norse. Even though those different societies are at odds with one another, from time-to-time, the race still prospers.
America, Canada, Australia and other nations are examples of White people, with very different backgrounds, who did form a melting pot of sorts. But this is an oversimplification of what went on. America was built as a neo-Europe and the culture was formed as such. Much of the animosity and tension that came from small groups within the whole nation, were actually transplants from Europe. Many scholars have pointed out the connection of the Germanic north and the Keltic south in the US Civil War. Group identity is a very powerful thing. There were many things lost with this melting pot and, when so much tradition was removed, many people became rootless to a degree. But, with the case of America, we did start off as an extension of Great Britain, which formed the root of what an American was. America absorbed small amounts of other European peoples and assimilated them a bit at a time into the existing Folk, which was essentially English.
With the advent of the Industrial Revolution, big business was born and the dehumanization of societies really began. The Folkish aspects to our society started to die. America in the 1800s was flooded with millions of foreign White people. Racially, they were of good stock, but socially the Folk died. America became the nation with the largest population of White people on the planet and the wealthiest and the most powerful nation on the planet. We were also one of the most racist nations, but we had lost our Folk. A White population without a Folk is easy prey to our enemies, especially if they get inside our borders.
To be a racial nationalist is to be racially aware and working to help our race. This is Folkish. There are millions of selfish Whites who are racial, but they do not help our race. They do not feel Folkish feelings. The spirit of community and self-sacrifice that exist so strongly in isolated small groups around the world is more Folkish and a more unifying power than all the wealth in America. If the White race in America felt about ourselves with the Folkish feelings that those rebellious Ukrainians in the northwest Ukraine feel, or if we had the close kinship that exists with Keltic people in rural northern Wales, then we would be able to act as a whole, for the benefit of our race and nation, in no time flat. America could be fixed racially, morally, and politically this year. But, this is far from what we are today.
With the death of American individualism, which was officially declared in the 1930s, we, as a nation, became a directionless mass of consumers. Let's compare this to what our race used to be. Think about the Viking Chieftain who could order his entire tribe to pack up and move 500 miles away, to an area that was filled with enemies. Think about a group of farmers in Kentucky in 1845, who got together, packed up their worldly belongings into covered wagons and for the next six months, traveled across America, over the vast, dry plains, over the biggest mountain range in America, over the hundreds of miles of harsh desert, all the while fighting against hostile savage Indians. Think about how much love and unity existed in the hearts of those White people. This is all from the power of identity, which forms societies into a Folk. Think about White families sailing across the Atlantic Ocean 500 years ago for month in small wooden ships. Try to imagine any man you know, trying to convince his wife to put their children into a wooden ship to sail across the Atlantic. Impossible! We have lost our Folk. The Folkish spirit gave them courage and the sense of adventure as well as the orderly direction in life. Compare those people to the growing volume of dysfunctional White families today.
Our race is dying, but it is not a numerical battle right now. Today, there are more White people alive, in sheer numbers, than there has ever been before. The reason we are just running away and giving up so much territory to the non-Whites is that we, the people of the White race, have lost our social glue: The Folk. A Folk is in each of our White nations, but currently suppressed.
We can see those few isolated White communities, here and there, and we can be happy for them because of the group identity that they share with one another, but it must be a national priority to bring back such unity to our own nations: one nation, one Folk, one White race. Those are good goals to work towards. Join with us, the National Alliance, and let's build our Folk.
