The multiple-party systems in Europe allow some degree of leeway
for "outsiders" to work their way into the power structure,
whereas the two-party system here virtually ensures that third- or
fourth-party candidates are ignored. This fact, coupled with the large
sums of money that are required to run for public office, make the
putting of Alliance members on ballots an impossibility. Perhaps some
of our members may indeed make it into local politics. Several Alliance
members have done so in the past, although little has come of their
efforts. So for the time being, we need to build our infrastructure
with our membership cadre. Every member needs to find his or her niche
in being in the best possible position to help Our Cause. And we must
continue building our media outreach network so that we can reach as
many people as possible with our message, thus enabling us to reach
our future political leaders, writers, business owners, teachers,
artists, workers, and so on.
