Brief Commentary
MUSIC, at least in America, has become almost a Jewish preserve. This is true in the field of "popular" music, where the controlled broadcasting industry and recording distribution industry serve as omnipresent intermediaries between performers and the public.
Jews also have seized a dominant role in the creation of popular music. Broadway and Hollywood were taken over early in this century, and the new proprietors favored their own. The most heavily promoted names among the composers of Hollywood and Broadway music long have been Jewish: Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Richard Rodgers, Sigmund Romberg, Jerome Kern. The musical comedy is practically a Jewish invention. And today the music of such Jewish songwtiters as Burt Bacharach, Neil Biamond, Bob Dylan (born Robert Zimmerman), Barry Manilow, and Paul Simon occupies a dominant position on the AM airwaves.
Unfortunately, classical music has fallen even more thoroughly into the Jewish grasp, Although it is almost exclusively the product of White genius, with no more than a tiny handful of Jews and part-Jews involved in its creation, it is filtered to White audiences today through a growing preponderance of Jewish performers. Jews now account for something between half and three-quarters of the star performers of classical music: the big-name soloists and the conductors of big-city orchestras.
Jews have not been bashful about pointing to this preponderance and claiming it as evidence of their extraordinary talent as a race. And, to be fair, it should be noted that such Jewish performers as Isaac Stern, Yehudi Menuhin, and Vladimir Ashkenazy are men of extraordinary talent, who undoubtedly could have achieved recognition entirely on their own.
But is there another reason for this success, something else besides talent which Jewish performers of classical music have in their favor and which White performers don't?
Polish pianist Andrzej Wasowski, considered the greatest living interpreter of Chopin, suggested in a recent newspaper interview(1) that there is. Wasowski is the descendant of Polish noblemen on both sides of his family; his father was a baron and his mother a princess. After the Second World War, however, all of his family's possessions were seized by the communists, and Wasowski himself, a 22-year-old music student, became a stateless refugee. He eventually acquired Venezuelan citizenship and continued the musical development which had been interrupted by the war. His story continues in the interview:
By 1965 Mr. Wasowski thought it was time to make a career in the United States, but he hadn't a clue as to how the business operated in this country...."The most powerful manager in the Midwest then was a Polish Jew in Chicago. He came to New York and booked me for a concert in Chicago's Orchestra Hall. He asked what my fee was and I said $2,000. He said, Can you go a little lower since it's your first appearance in Chicago?' and I said Yes, thinking he meant $1,600, $1,500 or even $1,400. But after my concert he gave me a check for only 200! I was speechless for a moment, then I pointed out to him that this amount wouldn't begin to cover my expenses. He finally gave me $500, but it was the end with him...."
When Mr. Wasowski and his wife made the rounds of the managements in New York they were told that no one was interested in another pianist, unless he was a Jewish refugee. "Finally I gave up the struggle because I had to support my children. So I took the first piano teaching job offered me, at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla." He taught there for 16 years, with students taking so much of his time that his concert appearances were rare.
Needless to say, 16 years at Oral Roberts University did Wasowski's career about as much good as 16 years on the moon would have. Nevertheless, he persevered, and his exceptional talent eventually has begun to receive some of the recognition it deserves. Never, however, has he received the sort of media promotion which has made household words of the names of such contemporary Jewish pianists as Serkin, Gilels, and Horowitz. One can only wonder how many more Andrzej Wasowskis who have been neglected or pushed aside by the people who run America's music establishment and their proteges might have made it to the top if they had received a helping hand, instead of an elbow in the face because they were not Jews.

THE TURNER DIARIES, Andrew Macdonald's startling novel of White revolution against egalitarian tyranny in the America of the 1990's (available from National Vanguard Books), has many episodes which squeamish readers find difficult to swallow. One of these episodes, early in the book, concerns a 15-year-old girl who has run away from home because she can no longer stand the indignities to which she is subjected in the racially integrated Washington, D.C., high school to which her liberal parents have been sending her:
Elsa dared not go into the restroom or even let herself out of the sight of a teacher for a moment while she was at school. She soon found that the teachers offered no real protection, when a Black assistant principal cornered her in his office one day and tried to put his hand inside her dress. Each day Elsa came home in tears and begged her parents to send her to another school. Her mother's response was to scream at her, slap her face, and call her a "racist." If the Black boys were bothering her, it was her fault, not theirs. And she should try harder to make friends with the Black girls....
No mother, not even a knee-jerk liberal, would behave that way, the squeamish readers complain. And besides, although there is some harassment of White girls in integrated schools, the White voters would never allow things to become as bad as they are portrayed in The Tumer Diaries.
Elsa's fictional torment occurs in the 1990's. A glimpse of what is actually happening in 1984 in Washington's suburbs was given last month by the Washington Post, a newspaper which tries as hard as it can to portray racial mixing favorably. The February 12 edition carried a long feature on student li~e at T.C. Williams High School, in Alexandria, Virginia. Until 1959 it was an all-White school with an excellent academic reputation. In that year a "human relations" consortium of rabbis, priests, and ministers declared segregation to be "contrary to the law of God" and ushered the first eight Black students in the front door. Today, with a school "consolidation" plan in effect, it is 49 per cent Black, 35 per cent White, and 16 per cent Oriental-Hispanic-Middle Eastern. And things are not quite as rosy as the Washington Post would like:
"It just pains me so to hear my son complain about the .. . [Asian and Hispanicl kids all sitting together and jabbering in their native language, says the mother of a . . . [White student]. "I tell him that when his grandfather was in high school in North Dakota, students mocked him for his heavy Norwegian accent, but it just doesn't sink in." ...."'Hey Blondie, why are you so cold?' I get that kind of stuff a lot from Black guys in the hall," says a white junior. "They'll grab my arm or try to block my way, then start saying those offensive things...."
"Who do thcse guys think they are, jostling us and making rude comments; it's sexual harassment pure and simple," says a white senior. "The worst part about it is that it gives the girls it happens to a bad feeling about black guys. Then we go home and feel guilty because our liberal parents are obsessed that their children should have only nice feelings about blacks."
"My parents keep asking me when I'm going to bring a black guy home," adds another senior. . . . "Even when I come back from school mad because some black guy has pinched my rear end, they tell me I should try to understand.
Lycurgus, the great Spartan lawgiver who lived 28 centuries ago, had an appropriate comment for these parents: "When falls on man the anger of the gods, first from his mind they banish understanding."
REILLY: ACE OF SPIES is a 12part television series which PBS began broadcasting in February. Although the series has been fictionalized, it is based roughly on a book by Sir Robin Bruce Lockhart, a former British intelligence official, which is more-or-less factual. It concerns a Jewish spy, Sidney Rosenblum, who used the Irish-sounding name "Reilly" and worked inside Russia for the British government during the First World War and the Bolshevik Revolution. In the television series, of course, Reilly is portrayed as a staunch battler against Lenin and his Bolsheviks: a lone Jew struggling valiantly to undo the Bolshevik Revolution, as well as to gather information for his British paymasters.
The author of the book is the son of Sir R.H. Bruce Lockhart (1887-1970), who was Britain's first envoy to the Bolsheviks and who for a time during 1918 was confined in the Kremlin as their prisoner. The elder Lockhart thus came to know the Bolsheviks intimately, and his son acquired much of that personal knowledge -- including his knowledge of Reilly/Rosenblum from him. During an interview with a reporter for the Washington Times just after the television series began, the younger Lockhart revealed one fact he had learned from his father which was scrupulously kept from the viewers of the PBS series. In answer to the reporter's question about the nature of the Bolsheviks and their revolution, Lockhart answered:
"... The early commissars, the central committee, had hardly any Russians on it at all. They were Jews, Ukrainians, Georgians, you name it. There were only about two or three genuine Russians in the whole outfit. The earlier communists, the early Bolsheviks, had an awful lot of Jews among them."
DETROIT used to be a nice place to live -- 50 years ago. During the Second World War, however, tens of thousands of Black workers were brought to Detroit from the South to build tanks and jeeps to whip the Nazis. After the war they stayed, and today the city is 68 per cent Black -- the seventh Blackest in the United States. Detroit also ranks fifth in the rate of armed robbery and eighth in the overall rate of violent crime among the 293 U.S. metropolitan areas surveyed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in preparing its annual Uniform Crime Reports.
Therefore, the city is planning to fire 300 of its White policemen and replace them with Blacks, probably later this year. That move is necessitated by a U.S. District Court order issued February 22, the outcome of a suit brought by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Actually, Detroit's problems are by no means confined to the city itself; several of them have been exported to the Michigan state legislature in Lansing, in the form of Black state legislators. Their behavior there brings to mind tales from the Reconstruction era, when White Southerners were disenfranchised, and Southern statehouses became filled with elected Black legislators who drank, fought, slept, ate watermelons and fried chicken, urinated, and did just about everything else in the legislative chambers except pass legislation -- which was, no doubt, a very good thing.
Michigan's major controlled news media wouldn't dream of mentioning such behavior, of course; not only would that be racist, but it might make the White natives restless. But the Michigan Voice is a minor controlled news medium an "alternative" newspaper dedicated to creating "social change" and "a new democratic social order," according to the blurb on the masthead -- and, therefore, not subject to the same constraints. Furthermore, it is especially concerned with the plight of "the poor, women, blacks, young people" and so is terribly frustrated over the fact that some Black legislators are doing an inadequate job of advancing the revolution. In a recent issue it complained about two of them, Representative Ethel Terrell and Senator Jackie Vaughn III. Of the former it reported:
How ineffective is Ethel? Out of 42 bills she introduced during the 81st legislature, not one was voted out of committee. Terrell's ineffectiveness is particularly disturbing because she is the chairperson of the House Committee on Civil Rights -- a potentially influential position.Asked to comment on Terrell, one long-time political activist and former state official said Terrell's "main problem is that she's not all together." .. . Observing Ethel in committee, one almost has to agree with that assessment. Wandering in and out of the room, the 56-year-old lawmaker asks rambling, pointless questions that leave other legislators hiding smiles, while trying to respond in non-offensive ways. One House staffer summed up her feelings on Terrell's intelligence and conservative views: "She pushes anti-evolutionary teaching in the schools, because if you talk to Ethel, you realize she is the missing link."
The Michigan Voice's comments on Senator Vaughn are briefer:
" ... The thing is, he sleeps. He sleeps on the floor of the Senate, he sleeps in committee, and he sleeps in his chair in his office. One lobbyist who knows Vaughn well said, "I've had him go to sleep in his goddamn chair while I was pitching him a bill.
PUBLIC HOUSING has been a subiect for debate recently, with all of the Democratic presidential contenders calling for more of it and denouncing Ronald Reagan's suggestion that perhaps there is already enough of it. In any event, whopping $4.4 billion of the Federal government's budget deficit this year can be blamed on public housing; that's how much Mr. Reagan's Department of Housing and Urban Development is spending to build, maintain, and repair it in fiscal 1984.
That doesn't count, of course, the additional billions of dollars in local taxes going into public housing. In Chicago, for example, where the Chicago Housing Authority spent $116.6 million last year providing subsidized housing for 4.7 per cent of the city's population, the Federal government paid 58 per cent of the bill. The CHA tried to make up as much of the rest as it could by collecting rent from the tenants, but found itself falling far short.
One of the problems is that no one at the CHA really knows who is tenant and who isn't. Many subsidized apartments are officially "vacant," some of them in such bad condition that they have been declared unfit for habitation. Yet there are always more people loitering in the halls and stairwells of the housing projects than can be accounted for by the number of rent-paying tenants. Counting only the ones in the CHA's record books, however, if all of these tenants were gathered into one location and incorporated, they would constitute the second-largest city in Illinois.
Just over 95 per cent of the tenants in Chicago's subsidized family units are Black; just under 60 per cent of them are children; and 70 per cent of them are members of families in which no one claims to be a husband or a father. The tenants pay an average of only $82 per month rent for their apartments -- when they pay. Two reporters for the Chicago Tribune, Jerry Thornton and George Curry, recently took a tour of one of the CHA's high-rise family projects. They reported:
Drugs are dispensed as casually as cigarettes are sold at a corner store. . . . Dimly lit hallways serve as taverns. Stairwells are used as urinals . . . and cockroaches are almost everywhere. . . . The stench of urine pervades almost every section, elevators are broken, light fixtures are missing, graffiti are scrawled over the inside and outside walls, windows and screens are missing. Narcotics are sold, often openly, by the tough-looking loiterers who are nearly always outside the buildings and in the hallways. The number of tenants in public housing in the United States rises inexorably with each passing year; for one thing, their fertility rate is more than twice that of the self-supporting segment of the population, and the prevalence of single-parent families among them doesn't slow down their reproduction rate at all.
The cost of the public housing program also rises inexorably, whether there is a Democrat or a Republican in the White House. Because, although the majority of public-housing tenants don't hold regular jobs (57.6 per cent of the CHA's tenants are on welfare, for example); and although it seems that they can't be trained to put their garbage into plastic bags for pickup by sanitation workers instead of simply heaving it out the nearest window; and although they won't use the bathrooms for relieving themselves when the hallways, stairwells, or elevators are more convenient -- they can vote.
Ain't democracy grand?
MEXICO has a great many problems, but one of them is not an overabundance of Jews, such as her northern neighbor endures; among a Mexican population of 76 million, there are only 35,000 Jews. Even so, they cannot stay out of trouble. Mexico's Jews are heavily concentrated in finance, exporting-importing, brokering, government contracting, and wholesale merchandizing, and they have been involved in several financial scandals recently. A number of them were closely tied to former President Jose Lopez Portillo, whose administration was exceptionally corrupt even by Latin American standards, and which is being blamed for much of Mexico's current economic distress.
One official of the current government has caused a stir by directing his blame specifically at Mexico's Jews. He is Miguel Angel Olea Enriquez, a representative from Chihuahua in the Chamber of Deputies and the director general of economic affairs for Mexico's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is highly respected by other members of Mexico's ruling Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRD. In December Enriquez addressed the Chamber of Deputies, stating: "Mexican Jews are experts in [speculation]. In this manner they elude taxes .. .. They obtain credit, after which they inflate their activities. . . . We must put a stop to these scoundrels. .. Either we are solid with the nation or we will never get out of the crisis.. .. Unfortunately, there have always existed Mexican traitors, shameless people, and profiteers."
Although the controlled press in the United States was able to maintain an almost total blackout of Enriquez' remarks, several Mexican papers reported them fully. One, Excelsior, carried the speech under the headline "Many Contractors Violate the Exchange Law, Signals the PRL" A subhead, highlighted with yellow ink, read: "Urges to Put a Stop to the Jewish Mexican Experts in Speculation."
Jews in the United States have been bombarding the Mexican government with hand-wringing complaints about Enriquez' "outrageous antiSemitic remarks" and angry demands that he be dismissed from his post in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but to date he continues to hold it.
