What is an American?

Hello, and welcome back to another edition of American Dissident
Voices, the Internet radio program of North America's foremost
racialist organization, the National Alliance. I'm your host and
the Chairman of the Alliance, Erich Gliebe.

Fourteen days after the attack on 9-11, an associate professor of
law named Peter Ferrara wrote a piece for National Review titled
"What is an American?" In the opening paragraph Ferrara notes a
newspaper report from Pakistan stating that someone was offering
a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American. "But
what is an American?" the professor asks. He goes on to explain.

First he says, "An American is English... or French, or Italian,
Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek. An American may
also be African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Australian, Iranian,
Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani, or Afghan." What does he mean? Does
he mean that an American can be someone who has left practically
any other country in the world and become an American citizen? If
that is what he means, then he is right. But no, that is not what
he means. Instead, he means that there are citizens of other
nations around the world who are also Americans, even though they
claim no American citizenship. How can that be, you ask? Just
hang on.

He goes on to say that an American is a Christian... or a Jew, or
a Buddhist, or a Muslim. After all, he points out; there are more
Muslims in America than in Afghanistan. He also announces that an
American can be an atheist. Well, this is all certainly true
since our constitution forbids the governmental establishment of
any particular religion over others while at the same time
guaranteeing the free practice of any religion one chooses. An
American can hold any religious faith he chooses or choose none
at all. The difference, Ferrara says, is that in America the
person is able to choose such things freely. Okay, this part of
the definition holds up fairly well. Let's move on.

Ferrara then says that an American is from the most prosperous
land in the history of the world. And why is America the most
prosperous land in history? Because the Declaration of
Independence posits the God-given right of all Americans to
pursue happiness. It is certainly possible for a rational person
to hold that position for the reason given, but wait and see how
Ferrara skews the issue in his final paragraphs.

Ferrara then runs through a list of other things that an American
is. Americans are generous because Americans have always helped
out other nations, including Afghanistan when she was invaded by
the Soviet Union. Americans "do not have to obey the mad ravings
of ignorant, ungodly cruel, old men." Nor, he says will Americans
be fooled into sacrificing her young in wars just because foolish
old men say so. Oh, yes, and American women are free "to show
their beautiful faces to the world, as each of them chooses."
Professor Ferrara may be running into trouble here.

Yes, Americans have been a generous people. When a major disaster
hits anywhere in the world, Americans are quick to send aid of
various kinds depending on the need. And, Americans send billions
of dollars to certain nations every year, in particular Israel,
which receives over three billion dollars annually.

But many solid historians have and do argue that America has sent
her young to die in unnecessary wars designated by old men to be
necessary. Wars in Vietnam and Iraq come readily to mind. Some
historians have even questioned the necessity of sacrificing
young Americans in World Wars I and II. And finally, American
women can show their faces, beautiful or not, in public --
something many Muslim women are not allowed to do in their
respective countries. But relatively unrestricted sexual freedom
in America also allows women to exhibit the rest of their bodies
as well in situations that many would argue are victories by
freedom over common sense, responsibility, and even morality.

In addition, Ferrara says, an American welcomes people from all
over the world, from all cultures, and from all religions because
Americans "are not afraid that their history, their religion, and
their beliefs, will be overrun, or forgotten." As a result,
Americans enjoy the best that all of these people have to bring.
On the other hand, Ferrara points out, Americans also welcome
"your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming
shores; the homeless; tempest tossed." But not so fast. Many
patriotic Americans today want an end to, or at least a
moratorium on non-European immigration because they know they
will be overrun and forgotten if non-European immigrants -- many
of whom hate and envy us -- gain control of the country by virtue
of their very numbers.

Ferrara also defines an American as one who is free to criticize
his government's officials and even vote them out of office in
free elections. At this point, the professor is falling into even
deeper trouble. Germans, Greeks, English, Spanish, etc. are also
able to freely criticize their government officials and even vote
them out of office in free elections. As strange as it may sound,
Ferrara believes that all of these foreigners are Americans. The
clinching error of his argument comes when he says that, in
summary, "Americans are not a particular people from a particular
place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom.
Everyone who holds to that spirit everywhere is an American."

The answer to Ferrara's question (who is an American?) is
obviously ridiculous to anyone with half a brain. For an
associate professor of law, Dr. Ferrara is stunningly illogical.
His error is basic--a false syllogism. Premise One: All Americans
love freedom. Premise Two: There are freedom-loving people all
over the world. Conclusion: Therefore, all freedom loving people
all over the world are Americans.

Obviously, the conclusion does not follow logically from the
first two premises. He ends up by drawing several other
conclusions from his false syllogism. For example, he says that
all of history's bloodthirsty tyrants have tried to kill
Americans. He lists Stalin and Mao Tse-Tung among the tyrants who
tried to kill Americans. Stalin killed many Russian farmers who
apparently wanted freedom; therefore, these Russian farmers were
Americans. Mao Tse-Tung killed many freedom-loving Chinese
citizens during China's cultural revolution; therefore, many
Chinese citizens were Americans. By this standard, Roman soldiers
killed by Hannibal's army were Americans, and African Zulus
killed by the British during African colonization were Americans.
And why even stop there? So, Ferrara says, anyone wishing to kill
an American should be very careful because if he kills a
freedom-loving person anywhere he is also killing an American.
What rubbish!

One thing the Left has been doing for decades is changing the
English language so words mean whatever they say they mean. When
words mean anything the Left says they mean, the Left shields
their positions from argument, criticism, and refutation. For
example, if the Left can define "conservative" to mean "bigoted,"
then no conservative can argue that he is not a bigot. Along
those same lines, how about the following as a damning syllogism?
Premise One: Everyone opposed to illegal immigration is a racist.
Premise Two: Everyone who is a racist is a bad person.
Conclusion: Therefore, everyone opposed to illegal immigration is
a bad person.

Dr. Ferrara apparently wants to broaden what it means to be an
American until the word "American" has no meaning at all. Such
strategies as this, of course, serve the Left. That is how the
Left can define as patriots people who constantly blame America
for every ill in the world.

Now technically, only American citizens are Americans. That,
however, doesn't mean that all American citizens are patriots or
defenders of what made this country great. Our constitution was
written by Americans for Americans. Many references prove that
our founding fathers never intended our constitution to apply to
other people in other countries. So don't let opponents of our
culture steal and change our language to their benefit. White
people have enough to defend today without also having to defend
the true meaning of words.

Of course, the American vision that our Founding Fathers had was
that America would be -- and stay -- a White nation. And what
exactly is a "nation"? Is it simply a geographical land mass
enclosed between two lines on a map and two large bodies of
water? No. Is a nation the government body that presides over it?
Hardly. A nation is a biological entity; an extended racial
family. And this is what every White person living throughout the
world needs to realize, because the non-White races understand
this concept and, for the most part, practice racial loyalty.

The America of 2009 does not now, and nor has it for several
decades, represent the America that our Founding Fathers had
envisioned. America today represents the failed experiment of
multiracialism, a social engineering project that has exploded
into misery, mistrust, envy, and chaos.

To close out this broadcast, I will recite here what we in the
National Alliance believe that a healthy White nation should
embody.

The men and women of the National Alliance believe that the
future is what we make it. We believe that we, as free and
conscious agents, have an absolute responsibility for all those
elements of the world around us over which we are capable of
exercising control; for the structure of our society and its
institutions; for the beauty and cleanliness of both our natural
and man-made environments; for the cultural and moral climate in
which we live and work; for the military and geo-political status
of our nation relative to the other nations of the earth; and,
most of all, for the racial quality of the coming generations of
our people.

We believe that no multi-racial society can be a truly healthy
society, and no government which is not wholly responsible to a
single racial entity can be a good government. America's present
deterioration stems from her loss of racial homogeneity and
racial consciousness, and from the consequent alienation of most
of our fellow citizens.

We believe that a good government is a government firmly based on
fundamental principles, the first of which must be that the
long-range welfare, security, and racial quality of the coming
generations of our people is the ultimate good. A good government
is a government which implements continuing, farsighted programs
consistent with the principle; it is not a government like the
one we have now, which embodies no coherent national purpose,
which is swayed by every minority pressure group, and which bases
its policies on shortsighted, partisan considerations, drifting
from one crisis to another and seldom planning beyond the next
election.

We believe that, in addition to a principled, responsible
government, we must have a society which facilitates progress in
all realms of life: that is, a society whose institutions and
values are conducive to advancement not only in material
efficiency, but also in artistic achievement, in moral and
physical health, and in racial quality. And we believe that all
of these things are closely bound together. We can have a
healthy, vital artistic life once again only when we reject the
false notion of artistic universalism and encourage our young
artists and musicians to express the inherent values and feelings
of our own people in their creative work. Likewise, our
educational system should concern itself not only with training
our young people in the basic skills of civilized life and giving
them pride in their racial, cultural, and national heritage, but
also with building character in them. Self-reliance, moral
toughness, a sense of personal honor, and physical fitness are
qualities at least as important in our citizens as a knowledge of
facts and techniques. All young people of our race must have
instilled in them a sense of quality instead of equality; they
must be taught to embrace discipline and order instead of being
encouraged to succumb to permissiveness and chaos.

We believe that our people must be united by the common goal of
building a better world and a better race. Today, without a
common national-racial purpose, we are unable to focus our
energies and achieve the great things which otherwise would be
within our grasp. But once we are united on the basis of common
blood, organized and disciplined within a progressive social
order, and inspired by a common set of ideals, there will be no
problem which we cannot overcome, no enemy whom we cannot
vanquish, and no goal which we cannot attain.

We believe that the first step toward this goal must be the
gathering together of all those men and women of our race who
share our beliefs and are willing to participate in our effort to
raise the consciousness of others. For information on the
